Beirut, Lebanon - In a decisive and intelligence-driven operation, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) announced today that Israeli Air Force fighter jets successfully eliminated Fuad Shukr, also known as "Sayyid Muhsan," the most senior military commander of Hezbollah and head of its Strategic Unit. The operation took place in the vicinity of Beirut and marks a significant blow to the terrorist organization.
Fuad Shukr served as the right-hand man to Hezbollah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah and was a key adviser in planning and directing the group's wartime operations. He had been instrumental in orchestrating Hezbollah's attacks on Israel since October 8th, including the recent tragic incident in Majdal Shams where 12 children were murdered on a Saturday evening. As the Head of Hezbollah's Strategic Unit, Shukr was responsible for managing the group's most sophisticated weaponry, such as precision-guided missiles, cruise missiles, anti-ship missiles, long-range rockets, and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). His role extended to the force build-up, planning, and execution of numerous terror attacks against Israel. Fuad Shukr's involvement with Hezbollah dates back to 1985, during which he held several senior positions. His prominence within the organization was further solidified by his membership in the Jihad Council, Hezbollah's highest military forum.
Throughout the 1990s, Shukr advanced numerous attacks against the IDF and the South Lebanon Army. In 2000, he played a direct role in the abduction of the bodies of three IDF soldiers—SSGT Benyamin Avraham, SSGT Adi Avitan, and SSGT Omar Sawaid—who were killed by Hezbollah terrorists while patrolling the security fence adjacent to Har Dov. His long history of orchestrating terror attacks against innocent civilians has left a trail of devastation. The elimination of Fuad Shukr is expected to significantly disrupt Hezbollah's operational capabilities and strategic planning. This targeted strike underscores the IDF's ongoing commitment to safeguarding Israeli citizens and combating terrorism.
