Washington, D.C. — President Joe Biden engaged in a pivotal discussion today with Amir Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani of Qatar, focusing on the evolving crisis in Gaza. The two leaders confirmed that the current ceasefire and hostage release proposal offers a clear and actionable plan to end the ongoing conflict.
During the conversation, President Biden reaffirmed Israel’s readiness to adhere to the proposed terms presented to Hamas. He emphasized that this proposal represents the best opportunity to reach an agreement, highlighting that Hamas’ continued refusal to release hostages would only extend the conflict and deny much-needed relief to Gaza’s population. President Biden also assured that the United States, in collaboration with Egypt and Qatar, is committed to ensuring the full implementation of the agreement. He urged Amir Tamim to employ all appropriate measures to persuade Hamas to accept the deal, pointing out that Hamas now stands as the primary obstacle to achieving a comprehensive ceasefire and delivering aid to Gaza’s residents. The President expressed his gratitude to the Amir and his senior team for their relentless efforts in negotiating the release of all hostages held in Gaza. Both leaders agreed to maintain close coordination in the days ahead to facilitate the successful execution of the agreement.
