Electricity Restored in Kharkiv After Russian Bombing

 By Charles Hawes

Kharkiv, Ukraine – Today, the electricity supply in Kharkiv has been successfully restored following a severe disruption caused by Russian bombings. The attacks had left a portion of the city without power, halting the subway and electric transport services. The swift restoration effort was led by local repair crews, with substantial support from both local and regional authorities.

I thank all our repair crews, everyone involved in restoring the energy supply, and local and regional authorities for their quick response and for helping people," a local official stated. Despite the prompt restoration of power, the bombing resulted in 12 injuries and claimed one life. "My condolences to their families, my condolences to all the close ones. Every day Kharkiv suffers from this Russian terror," the official added. The persistent attacks on Kharkiv highlight the urgent need for enhanced defensive measures. "Russian combat aircraft that carry out these strikes, not only on Kharkiv but on our other cities, on our communities, on our frontline positions – must be destroyed wherever they are, by all effective means available," the official emphasized. There is also a growing call for joint security decisions with international partners, advocating for the necessity of attacking Russian airfields to diminish their capacity for such attacks. The recent authorization for strikes on Russian territory near the border has been a significant step in reducing Russia's offensive capabilities, albeit only partially.

We need to fully protect people and lives from Russian terror – we need more long-range capabilities; we need proper weapons for Ukrainians," the official continued, expressing ongoing efforts to secure these resources from international partners. The upcoming weeks are expected to be highly productive for Ukraine, as recent approvals for new Patriot missile systems mark a significant advancement. "We are preparing a follow-up, working on the supply of more air defense systems. And long-range capability is now a question not only of what we can achieve on the battlefield but also of when the war will end. The more we can do, the sooner we will succeed in forcing Russia into a just peace, the official explained. In a significant diplomatic development, six more participants have joined the Peace Summit Communiqué, reinforcing global support for a just peace. "There will be even more signatures on the Communiqué – our team is working on it now. And we are also gradually preparing to work in groups – on the points of the Peace Formula," the official revealed, stressing the goal of restoring security globally. Further progress is anticipated in Ukraine's relationship with the European Union. With the EU having approved the negotiating framework, Ukraine is poised to start official negotiations on June 25. "It is a truly historic week. Ukraine has been moving towards this for a decade, and this result is the personal result of everyone who chose Ukraine on February 24, who fights for our country, who strengthens Ukraine with everything necessary," the official remarked. In a day of notable events, the Center of Special Operations "A" of the SSU celebrated its 30th anniversary. "These are really heroic guys, without whom it is impossible to operate in any hot direction. I am proud of you!" the official praised. Several decrees have been signed, conferring ranks and state awards to the warriors of the SSU's CSO "A", acknowledging their crucial role in the nation's defense. Additionally, Public Service Day in Ukraine was marked by acknowledgments of those dedicated to serving the state and the people. "We absolutely must defeat the Russian evil," the official concluded, reinforcing the resolve to prevail in this ongoing conflict.
