Zelenskyy Assesses Border Situation

Sumy, Ukraine — President Volodymyr Zelenskyy made a pivotal visit to the Sumy region's border area, where he convened with key military leaders to assess the current operational landscape and strategize on future actions. The meeting, which included Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, General Oleksandr Syrskyi, and the Head of the Sumy Regional Military Administration, Volodymyr Artyukh, focused on recent developments in the ongoing conflict and the defense measures being implemented.

    General Syrskyi provided a comprehensive report on the operational situation, highlighting active engagements in the KA notable achievement was that Ukrainian forces secured control over another settlement in the Kursk region, contributing to the strategic exchange fund, which enhanced region and ongoing battles across key fronts, including the Kharkiv region, Donetsk region, and southern Ukraine. Specific emphasis was placed on the Toretsk and Pokrovsk directions, where the Russian military continues to apply significant pressure. Syrskyi outlined the command’s efforts to bolster defenses in these critical areas, ensuring Ukrainian forces remain resilient against Russian advances.

    In a notable achievement, Ukrainian forces have secured control over another settlement in the Kursk region, contributing to the strategic exchange fund, which enhances Ukraine's negotiating leverage. Furthermore, Syrskyi detailed the establishment and operational status of the military commandant’s office in the newly controlled areas, signaling an organized approach to maintaining security and governance.

    Volodymyr Artyukh, representing the Sumy Regional Military Administration, updated President Zelenskyy on the region's status following the commencement of the Kursk operation. Artyukh reported a decrease in shelling from barrel weapons and a subsequent reduction in civilian casualties, a development that has provided a safer environment for essential activities.
